From a baby’s first check-up to the changing health needs of later life, Dr Karin van der Merwe welcomes patients of all ages to her family-friendly practice in Craighall Park. A GP since 2011, she takes a personal approach to healthcare, looking at the whole person and tailoring her guidance to each patient’s needs.

Dr Karin has a particular interest in children’s health, drawing on experience in paediatric wards and clinics in South Africa and the United Kingdom. She aims to make consultations feel unhurried and reassuring for young patients. She also supports mothers through postnatal depression, anxiety and the adjustment to motherhood, with her MOM SQUAD WhatsApp group offering connection beyond the consulting room.

Her other special interests include minor surgical procedures and caring for people living with Long Covid and ME/CFS.

The practice offers everyday medical care, management of chronic conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure, preventative health screening, mental health care, women’s and men’s health services, and skin checks.
